IKOGA COMMUNITY CAPACITY-BUILDING TRAINING ON WASTE MANAGEMENT AND RECYCLING
The session focused on equipping participants with practical knowledge on proper waste handling, waste segregation, and recycling practices.
The interactive training featured facilitators who led sessions on fashion waste recycling, composting, agro-waste management, recyclable upcycling, and creative reuse, while emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
Participants at the training included members of the Royal Cabinet of Ikoga- Kingdom, school leaders,
representatives, members of the Community Development Association, as well as environmental and health officers. Through hands-on demonstrations and discussions, attendees were educated on sustainable waste disposal methods and community-led strategies to prevent the re-emergence of illegal dumpsites.
Speaking at the training, the Chairperson of the Clean-Up Badagry Initiative, Mrs. Tosin Whingan, emphasized the need for sustained community ownership of environmental projects, noting that infrastructure alone is not sufficient without behavioral change and continuous sensitization.
